Author Tony Wilson Visits RPS

Last week renowned children’s author, Tony Wilson visited RPS. His visit was part of the Young Australian’s Best Book Award (YABBA) initiative. YABBA’s key goal is to help engage students in reading Australian books. All Victorian government primary schools are automatically YABBA members thanks to a partnership between YABBA and the Department of Education and Training, and RPS was invited to take part. From our library we were able to link with a number of other schools to create a virtual author visit. Tony read excerpts of his book and took questions from not only our 3/4T students but students linked in from their classrooms around the state. He read us a few of his stories and acted them out. It was a very successful visit and opportunity for all student to engage with real author.
“The virtual experience was really smart and would have needed lots of orgainising. He made us all laugh and it was joy to have him at RPS. He let us join in on his story telling, like letting us jump. He read ‘The Cow Who Tripped Over the Moon’. “ Ethan and Sophie
