Message from the Principal
Welcome back to another exciting year here at RPS. I hope you all have had a wonderful and restful break and are as excited as we are to begin this next chapter together. I’d like to take this opportunity to warmly welcome our new students, families, and staff to the RPS community… it’s a fantastic school to be a part of!
This edition of Chatter is short and sweet, as we have only had students on site for 3 days! In term 1 our Chatter will be released on the Friday of our even weeks, with our whole school assemblies being held on the Friday of the even weeks. Yes, you read that correctly, for Term 1 we will conduct our assemblies from 9:10am – 9:45am on the netball court. All going to plan, the weather will be perfect each week and the UV rays will not be as high at that time of the day.
Our building is progressing at a steady pace, and it was exciting to return and see some of the landscaping completed. At this stage, we are still expecting to be moving in at the beginning of Term 2.
Yesterday, you received details via Compass about our annual “You-Tell-Us” interviews, which will take place on Monday, 9th February, Tuesday, 10th February, and Wednesday, 11th February. Make sure you book a time to meet with your child’s teacher.
As always, we encourage open communication, collaboration, and a strong partnership between home and school to support every student’s success and well-being. For the latest updates and key dates, please check our website, read RPS Chatter, and keep an eye on Compass notifications. And if you’re ever in doubt, don’t hesitate to call the school directly.
We’ve had a fantastic start to the school year—it’s been wonderful seeing everyone back, hearing the laughter and excited voices of our students.
That’s all from me for now—I look forward to seeing you around the school grounds.
In the meantime, stay safe, stay healthy, stay happy, and always remember to be kind to yourself and others.
Megan 😊
Birthday Treats
Students are welcome to bring a small treat to share with the class on their birthday, as long as it’s individually portioned (e.g. Freddo Frog, cupcakes) and classroom allergies are taken into consideration.
If you plan to provide a treat, please notify the classroom teacher in advance so they can arrange for you to come in and help your child hand them out at the end of the day. Please do not send treats with your child to distribute independently.
When I grow up - by Rosie Waycott
Playing a role in Matilda Jr was an amazing experience. When I first found out I was playing Lavender, I was delighted, but also a little nervous. I knew no one except one girl in the ensemble. But those nerves didn’t last long, after our first photo-shoot I knew that this case was amazing! Throughout this experience, I have made some lifelong friends. After nine till five rehearsals for a straight week of 40-degree days, we were ready. Not only was it a full house every day, but so many people were on a wait list that they extended the season, adding an extra two shows. The kids were double casted so there were 10 shows, and each kid did 5 of them. The older kids, on the other hand, did all of the shows. On closing night, there were lots of tears, but even though it was over, it was an experience I will never forget!
