Message from the Principal
It always amazes me how fast the term goes… You think that, with an eleven‑week term, there’s so much time—then you blink, and it’s the end of week nine with only two weeks to go.
Upcoming Changes to Mathematics Reporting in 2025
From this semester, all Victorian schools will adopt a new approach to reporting student achievement in Mathematics. In 2024, the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA) introduced the revised Mathematics Curriculum 2.0, which aims to help students make stronger connections within mathematics and across other learning areas.
Previously, your child’s progress in Mathematics was reported across three strands—Number and Algebra; Measurement and Geometry; and Statistics and Probability. Teachers will continue to cover content from all three strands, but reporting will now align with the revised curriculum. Under Mathematics Curriculum 2.0, your child’s achievement will be reflected in a single overall Mathematics result based on the curriculum’s achievement standard.
To support this transition, our teaching staff have participated in professional learning focused on the revised curriculum and refined assessment practices. Teachers are working collaboratively to ensure that each student’s report reflects collective professional judgment and provides a well-rounded view of their progress.
These changes aim to provide a clearer and more comprehensive picture of your child’s mathematical development. We are committed to ensuring the transition is smooth, purposeful, and beneficial for all students.

iPad Lease Reminder for 2025
Thank you to all families in Years 3–6 who have already completed payment for the 2025 iPad lease. If you haven’t yet paid, we kindly ask that you do so as soon as possible.
Not sure whether you’ve paid? If you’re anything like me and can’t quite remember, feel free to contact the office to check. If you have any questions or concerns regarding the payment process, the office team will be happy to assist.
PSW Uniform Updates for 2026
If (or when!) you’re purchasing new uniform items for 2026—yes, we’re already planning that far ahead—please note a few updates have been made:
- The fabric of both short‑ and long‑sleeved polo tops has been updated.
- A new water‑resistant jacket has been introduced.
All current uniform items remain valid, and our fantastic Second‑Hand Uniform system will continue to operate. PSW will stock the current uniform until supplies run out, after which the updated versions will be available.
Farewell to McFly
As some of you may already know, we sadly had to say goodbye to McFly, our grey budgie, on Monday. After some investigation (with help from Google), we’re still unsure of the cause—it could have been anything from a heart condition to struggling with the recent cold weather.
Marty is now keeping warm in my office and enjoying a cheerful budgie playlist on Spotify (yes, that really exists!). Since budgies are highly social creatures, we’ll be making sure Marty has some new feathered friends next term.
That’s all from me this week.
Enjoy the weekend—I look forward to seeing you around the school grounds.
Stay safe. Stay healthy. Stay happy, and remember to be kind to yourself and others.
Megan 😊
