Message from the Principal
Feels like forever since I have written a “Chatter”… and I feel like there is so much to share!
Before you ask, there is nothing new to share regarding our new build. Earlier this week I was involved in the interviews for possible builders (I don’t get a vote, but I did express my opinion…. very unlike me I know!). Once the VSBA appoint a builder, I will have more to report.
In the meantime, it’s been action-packed here at school. We are currently moving our library from its current location to upstairs where Mandarin has been all year. Thank you to those amazing volunteers who helped us go up and down the stairs with books, books and more books. The Foundation learning spaces are getting ready to move downstairs to the library for the remainder of the year (a little reminder that we are seeking volunteers next Friday to move everything!). Our 2025 Foundation students will be located in the library. All other learning spaces will remain the same.
Unfortunately, due to our lack of space, Creative Music and Kelly Sports will not be able to occur in 2025. Chess and coding will still take place before school, and tennis can continue outside. Programs will be back in action hopefully from the beginning of the 2026 school year.
I have another request…. our budgies, Marty and McFly, need a family to bird-sit them over the school holidays. As we are not allowed on site until school begins again next year, we need someone to look after them. Personally, I would take them home, BUT I have two mischievous cats who would probably torment them (and we don’t want that). If you can look after Marty and McFly over the Christmas break, please let me know ASAP. They just require food (which we will supply) and water each week….and some general conversation. The cage they are in is completely portable. I would really appreciate it.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again…Planning for 2025 is in full swing! To ensure that we are fully prepared for next year, please let us know as soon as possible if you or anyone you know has not yet enrolled or does not plan to be part of our school community in 2025. If you could please let us know this as soon as possible, that would be fantastic! Even if you are going on an extended holiday, you need to let us know.
Other than that, we’re all good. It does remind me that with so much going on, it’s easy to forget or misinterpret information. If you ever need clarification, be sure to check the website or call the office so we can set you straight.
That’s all from me this week. I look forward to seeing you around the school grounds.
Stay safe. Stay healthy. Stay happy and remember to be kind to yourself and others.
Megan 😊
News from Year 5/6
In Literacy, we have been anaslysing and writing formal letters, with our Grade 5’s working on captaincy applications for next year. In Numeracy, we have been looking at Angles in Geometry and adding and subtracting decimals, leading into money and financial maths in Number and Algebra.
The 5/6’s have loved their first round of electives, with their second round kicking off this week. Unfortunately, due to the weather some electives could not be run. Fingers crossed we start seeing a bit more of spring and summer next week!
