Message from the Principal
WOW! What a week…… there is a reason staff and students are walking around looking a little bit tired today and its called Orlando and Florence Travel back in Time. Our 2022 whole school production was held over Wednesday and Thursday night to a packed house (although a little bit stuffy) and rave reviews.
We are incredibly proud of all our students for their enthusiasm, excitement, and attitude. The excitement backstage was electric, and smiles were from ear to ear. Our Year 6’s did an outstanding job learning their line, actions AND dance moves. It was obvious that so much work had gone into everyone’s costumes, props, choreography and rehearsals….and it was well worth the effort. Thank you to EVERYONE who contributed in making our show a success.
There are a few that need a special mention:
- Our former Performing Arts teacher, Rachel Faigen writing the script
- Lucie for backdrop and prop design
- Jake and Vesna back in the office for all their work in ticketing and question answering
- Our whole staff for stepping up and doing what needed to be done to ensure the success of our whole school presentation.
- Ralph Gotlib and Lynall hall community for hosting (and putting up with) us
- Lorelle Hargraves for choreographing our Year 6s
- All our parent reps for organising costumes, particularly Anna Mortley and Cassie Went for organising a “crew” to ensure the Year 6 cast looked amazing
- Kath backstage organisation and theatre knowledge
- Liv for her dedication and direction
- You, our community. We hope you had a great time
If you want to relive the excitement, USB’s will go on sale next week. A compass alert on Monday will let you know how to order, etc.
You would think that after the production, things would start to slow down…..not at RPS, there are still so many things happening! Still to come this term we have:
- Whole school Assembly
- “Moving on Up” day
- School council
- Whole school STOMP dance incursion
- Year 6 Graduation
- Year 6 open water program
- Pizza Day
- Reports
- Meet the teacher
- Final assembly
On that note, let me introduce to our new staff for 2023:
- Jane Caulfield (Performing Arts)
- Emily Brown (integration Aide)
It also means that some staff are starting new chapters in their life and wont be part of the 2023 RPS team. They include:
- Conor Roberts
- Gary Pearl
- Lauren Scarfo
- Brayden Dunstan
Another thing that will be tweaked in 2023 will be the structure of our day:
- 9am – Start of school day
- 9am – 10am – Session 1
- 10am – 11am – Session 2
- 11am – 12pm – Lunch
- 12pm – 1pm – Session 3
- 1pm – 2pm – Session 4
- 2pm – 2:30pm – Afternoon Recess
- 2:30pm – 3:30pm – Session 5
- 3:30pm – End of School Day
The two-hour block will have “brain food/fruit snack” breaks. The earlier lunch will help to refuel our students for the remainder of the day.
There is always lots happening, so make sure you read the newsletter/compass alets/website to know what’s goin on and when. If you are ever in doubt or need more information, please contact the office directly.
That’s all from me this week.
Stay safe. Stay healthy. Stay happy.
Megan 😊
Should I stay or should I go?
To assist us in making sure we are ready for next year, if you or anyone you know would like to be part of our amazing school community in 2023 and they are not yet enrolled, please make sure enrolment forms are completed and returned to Jake in the office as soon as possible.
Also, please inform Jake as soon as possible if you are planning on leaving at the end of the year. This is only required if your children are in grades 1-5.
Russell’s Joke of the week:
I don’t get why Marvel doesn’t use the Hulk to advertise more.
He’s basically one big Banner.
School Hats
It’s summer and our students are required to be wearing their school hat.
We thank you for ensuring your child has a named hat at school everyday.
