RPS Chatter August (2) 2026

Hi RPS Families,

It is finally that time of year- footy finals are here, and the sun is starting to peek out as we approach the beginning of Spring next week! It is set to be a beautiful 23 degrees on Tuesday next week, which also means school hats are back from Tuesday 1st September.

We are a SunSmart school, and our SunSmart policy means that hats must be worn during recess and lunch from the beginning of September through to the end of April. Please remember to send your child to school with their hat starting next week.

A friendly reminder also to any parent volunteers helping in classrooms: please remember to sign in at the office before heading into the classroom.

On Tuesday, we celebrated our annual Book Week, and a huge thank you to all our families for supporting the day. The children looked fantastic in their wonderful character costumes, and it was such a great day celebrating reading, books and literature together.

We have a very busy final three weeks of Term 3 ahead, with lots of exciting events, including:

🏃 Division Athletics – Year 5/6

The RPS School Production ‘Unless…’ is on Tuesday 1st September and Wednesday 2nd September. Tickets for the school production are very close to sold out! There are a very small amount of additional tickets going on sale from 4pm on Friday 28th August. These are open to everyone and we expect them to sell quickly.

A reminder when you book your tickets to check the performance night very carefully, as only select students will be performing on each night. Please see below for which classrooms will be performing on each night.

Student drop-off: Students need to be dropped off at 5:30pm at the side door, which will be clearly marked. Students must be signed in by a Specialist staff member.

Foyer: The foyer will open from 5:00pm.

Show time: The production will begin at 6:00pm.

Show duration: The production will run for approximately 1 hour and 10 minutes.

Student collection: At the conclusion of the production, students will be brought out by their teacher and must be signed out to an organised, trusted adult.

Access: The best access point is Gate 2. Please refer to the attached photo for reference.

Parking: Please take note of the parking restrictions when parking your car for the evening.

Food and Water: Students may bring a named water bottle to consume only in the green room spaces. Please note there will be no food in any of the spaces.

Auditorium: Please note that there is a strict no food or drink policy in the auditorium.

Anglesea Camp Recap- By Chloe Scott and Archie Wegener 3/4C

On Monday 17th August, the 3/4s went to school camp at Anglesea Discovery Camp for three exciting days.

First, we arrived and went on a tour of the camp. We then found our cabins and activity groups for the camp. The cabin names were Bells, Jarosite, Addis and the Rec Room. The food at camp was delicious! Our favourites were the penne bolognese and the chicken burritos.

We participated in lots of different activities, including the Vertical Challenge, hut building, the Giant Swing and bush cooking. The best part about camp was spending time with all of our friends and enjoying the night activities, such as the talent show and watching a movie together.

Thank you to all the staff and teachers who looked after us and participated in camp. We had an amazing time!

What a wonderful Book Week celebration we had at Richmond Primary School on Tuesday 25th August! Our school was filled with colourful costumes, creative characters and plenty of book-inspired excitement as students and staff dressed up to celebrate this year’s theme, “A Symphony of Stories.” Despite the rain from the night before, our whole school came together in the community hub for a fantastic Book Character Parade, giving everyone the chance to admire the incredible costumes and celebrate our shared love of reading. It was wonderful to see so many students bringing their favourite books and characters to life, and the day was a fantastic reminder of the joy, imagination and connection that stories bring to our school community. A huge thank you to all of our families for helping make the day such a memorable celebration

🎸 Rage Against the Canteen are through to the finals! 🎸

Our wonderful RPS parent band, Rage Against the Canteen, has made it through to the finals of the Parents Battle of the Bands competition!

On Thursday 10th September, the band will be competing at The Corner Hotel in Richmond from 7pm.

The parents from schools across Melbourne are battling it out to win valuable funds for our Performing Arts Program at RPS. Every ticket sold helps support our chances of winning, so we would love to see as many RPS families and friends there as possible!
